The small community of Peyton is located east of the town of Colorado Springs. 

The town of Peyton was settled in 1888.  By 1900, 50 people lived in Peyton. While farming and coal mining comprised the main occupation, supporting services included a blacksmith, physician, general store, creamery, hotel, and clergy.

In 2010 the population was 250.

The Paint Mines Interpretive Park:  The Park is located in the northeast section of the County near Calhan with approximately 750 acres. The paint mines show evidence of human life as far back as 9,000 years ago.

SBR Motorsports Park:  They offer the highest quality rental karts in the state of Colorado.
